ABOUT HOTSPANIX

Philly Hotspanix is a movement, originally created by Philadelphia artists Joey Caraz and Nelson "SUPA" Zayas in 2008, to raise awareness and promote Latino/Hispanic artists, DJs and other play makers in the Philadelphia area. Starting on social media outlets such as MySpace, Facebook and eventually on Instagram and SoundCloud, we have given a platform for these artists to showcase their music, videos, events and any acccolades. The other move makers that we have promoted include models, radio personalities, local establishments, politicians, athletes and more.

In the effort to expand our movement, we want to continue to promote Latin artists that have the drive to succeed in the music business. Artists can submit studio-quality music with the proper descriptions (artist's name, song title, song's producer and mixtape or album's title). For the time being, we're accepting mp3 attachments, but would prefer links to music pages (SoundCloud, AudioMack, YouTube etc.) Submissions should include a short bio and social media handles to properly introduce and inform the public of the artist and their product. Submissions, information and links regarding music, videos or events can be sent to hotspanix@gmail.com. We'll try our best to boost your movement!

ABOUT THE CO-FOUNDERS

Nelson "SUPA" Zayas

As a former aspiring artist with North Philadelphia hip-hop group Team Wreckless, SUPA gained minor popularity through local shows and social media outlets in the mid-2000s. In 2008 & 2009, SUPA was nominated under the Best Latin Artist category for the Philly Hip Hop Awards. With the opportunity of exposure for more of Philadelphia's Latino/Hispanic Artists, he helped start Philly Hotspanix with long-time friend and music collaborator Joey Caraz. They would co-produce mixtapes and events.

Joey Caraz

Joey Caraz is a hidden gem in the North Philly music scene. He's collaborated with the likes of Murda Mics, Waterboy Records, Team Wreckless and more. With Time Now Entertainment, they gained sponsorship with Joe Rocket Motorcycle Gear. In 2008, he kickstarted a radio podcast called Boycott Radio for the awareness of unsigned and independent local artists. The same year, he teamed with SUPA to start a campaign to showcase local Hispanic Artists. Today, Joey Caraz is still heavily involved with music, including working with the likes of Strong Arms and Danny Flores (forming Project HIR), briefly managing group Peso Bag Cru and collaborating with Frank Mula for Dstrct25.
